Del City reports near-complete AMI meter rollout; vendor replacing wires at no cost

City staff told the Del City Municipal Services Authority on July 1 that the citys AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) water meter project is nearing completion and that manufacturer Zinner is working locally to repair communication wiring.
Whitney, the project lead, said Zinner is replacing roughly 200 wires that were reporting invalid communications and that the work is being performed at no cost to the city. Whitney also reported the city has fixed about 35 bad valves or stops since the last meeting and that staff will produce a comparison of water output versus bill calculations last fiscal year to demonstrate meter accuracy improvements.
"We're moving right along," Whitney said, describing the remaining work and the plan to bring a data-driven summary to council when available. The AMI update was presented as discussion-only; no formal council action was required at the meeting.
City staff said they will return with the meter-read comparison to show how the AMI rollout has affected billed consumption and meter accuracy and will provide timeline details for any remaining fixes.
