Chickasha — At its Dec. 16 meeting the City Council approved a number of consent-docket items after pulling several for discussion, including a change to how holiday pay is calculated, approvals for community events, RFP solicitations for AV improvements and authorization of several vehicle/equipment purchases.
Major consent actions included: an amendment to Section 5.01 of the employee manual to define holiday pay as the employee’s regularly scheduled shift hours rather than a fixed eight hours; authorization for the Chickasha Optimus 10th annual Christmas Carol 5K; authorization to solicit bids for council‑chamber AV improvements (RFP COC‑2406); approval of homecoming parade permitting; and authorization to purchase a CCTV upgrade for the camera truck, a Godwin dump body and an International cab chassis for replacement work.
Council members asked clarifying questions about holidays observed in the employee manual (Juneteenth was raised and staff said the online manual reflects the current schedule) and debated cleanup concerns tied to the homecoming parade; staff said changes to parade float formats this year should reduce litter. On an assigned easement matter, staff said the council previously approved the underlying agreement and the current item updates a company name as part of an assignment.
