Chickasha council authorizes bids for Shannon Springs pool and splash-pad repairs

Chickasha — City staff received council authorization Dec. 16 to solicit bids for design‑build rehabilitation projects at Shannon Springs Park: RFP COC‑2408 for the swimming‑pool rehabilitation and RFP COC‑2407 for a phase‑1 splash‑pad rehabilitation.

Public-works staff and councilors discussed prior safety reviews and whether pipe sizing and vent concerns had been fully resolved. "The underground water supply pipelines ... those lines need to be replaced," said a staff public‑works representative (speaker 25), noting broken lines and failing valves that undermine the system’s ability to hold pressure. Staff also confirmed a follow‑up review of earlier third‑party opinions and said the pool remains within acceptable code limits for operation pending rehabilitation.

The council authorized the solicitations after brief discussion of technical details and timing; staff said they are also pursuing grant funds to help finance a full replacement of the pool structure, and that a replacement would require a formal engineering report.
