Winneshiek County supervisors approve Bridge 208E plans and pass consent agenda

The action follows the department’s report that W14 shouldering work (rock shoulder) is complete and that routine striping will be done in the county’s normal striping process. Speaker 2 also updated the board on several operational items: finishing quotes for Ridgeway shop roof work, consideration of Iowa State University for a bridge-green senior-design partnership after other universities did not respond, and a six-county meeting scheduled for Dec. 12.
The board also approved the consent agenda on a motion by Speaker 3 and a second by Speaker 4; the chair called for the ayes and the consent agenda was approved. Speaker 1 noted the board received a letter from the historical society seeking donations related to a property it acquired; Speaker 4 distinguished the historical society from the Winneshiek County Historic Commission.
Speaker 2 reported that the county’s sign manager submitted keys and that interviews to fill the position are planned next week. There was also discussion about building access and about recording meetings when three or more people are present; Speaker 6 asked whether Fatima could begin an official recording if three or more people were present, and others said they had discussed routinely recording such gatherings.
The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn, which passed on a voice vote.
Next steps: supervisors directed staff to sign and upload the Bridge 208E plans to EMS and to proceed with candidate interviews for the sign manager position.
