The engineer reported the county is reviewing a statewide Homeland Security/FEMA extension that could provide about six additional months for submittals tied to FEMA events; staff are verifying details with FEMA.
Board members discussed a recent landfill shop fire. Those present said the shop burned early in the morning and that most contents and some equipment were lost. The board confirmed the county holds contents insurance for the shops but that deductibles and limits will apply; supervisors discussed inventories, valuing equipment for replacement, temporary borrowing of equipment from neighboring counties, and moving storage containers to hold salvageable tools.
Supervisors also raised staffing and equipment valuation as part of insurance renewal discussions and noted the need to review coverages for contents, buildings and machinery across county locations. The engineer said work to restore services and finalize insurance claims is ongoing.
