Gordon County adopts FY25 budget, approves two rezonings and a string of appointments and contracts

On land-use matters, the board approved two rezoning requests. Application Z24-15 (owners Robert and Meredith Bartow; 21.53 acres in the DuPont community) to rezone from R-1 to A-1 was approved with no public opposition. Application Z24-16 (Scott M. Jones / Spring Calhoun Owner LLC; 38.22 acres on South Highway 41) to change from I-1 to I-2 was also approved after applicant testimony addressing buffers and compatibility concerns.
The board approved a series of routine items including a change-of-ownership for a malt beverage/wine/liquor license for Ralph Sorrentino / Ralphs Crazy Acres LLC (3445 Rome Road SW, Planckville), and reappointments to boards and authorities: BJ Meadows to the airport authority and Jim Rosencrantz to the library board (terms beginning July 1, 2024). The board also approved an amendment to the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia defined benefit plan for county employees and a budgeted agreement with Invictus Apps Inc. to improve the 911 center communications for $8,280.
