On Dec. 16 the Massachusetts House considered and approved two engrossed bills and then adopted an order to adjourn until Thursday at 11 a.m.
The clerk read two engrossed measures on the floor. The first was listed as House 4980, described as “an act establishing a sick leave bank for Kimberly Martinelli, an employee of the Department of Correction.” The second was listed as Senate 2986, described as “an act establishing a sick leave bank for Kate Soat Sorm, an employee of the Department of Transitional Assistance.” The question came on passing the bills to be enacted and members approved both measures by voice vote (“The ayes have it; the bills are passed to be enacted.”).
After passage, Speaker Mariano offered an order that the House adjourn to meet Thursday next at 11 a.m.; members adopted the order by voice vote. Representative Jones of North Reading then moved the formal adjournment, which the House approved.
The floor record shows voice votes rather than recorded roll-call tallies; the session did not include debate on the bills after the clerk read their titles.
