Lynn Haven approves outfall study, equipment purchase and water main work; awards multiple contracts

The Public Works director asked the commission to authorize a $140,660 task order with Duberry Engineers to survey Main and Maryland avenues (19th to 14th Streets) to identify potential additional stormwater outfalls where recurring standing water and flooding have been reported. Staff said surveying could begin within weeks, a preliminary study would be available mid‑year and full design and permitting could take about a year with construction following over another 6–9 months.
The commission approved trading an older 2007 sewer jetting trailer toward the purchase of a new sewer trailer from Jet Vac Equipment Company (purchase price and trade‑in terms were described by staff) after staff explained repair costs on the old unit were substantial. Commissioners noted contracting out the service currently costs $800–$1,800 per call and that owning the equipment reduces recurring contractor costs.
The commission also awarded the Veil 3 Raw Water Main Replacement Project to CW Roberts for $306,730 and approved a task order to proceed with project funding reallocations to complete the work within the current water budget. Commissioners approved the motions by voice vote.
Staff committed to present the survey results and cost estimates for design and construction so commissioners can plan funding and any necessary requests for qualifications for design services.
