Several councilmembers expressed support for the idea but said they wanted a deeper staff briefing and a site visit to the Animal Foundation, and asked for consultation with neighboring jurisdictions in Southern Nevada before voting. The committee attempted a vote on a motion to approve; after a revote the motion failed and no up-or-down recommendation was recorded. Staff explained the options, including moving the item forward with no recommendation, reporting it, or seeking another motion.
The committee then adopted a motion to hold Bill 2024-41 in abeyance and scheduled it for the Feb. 3, 2025 recommending-committee meeting; the chair announced the motion carries.
