City staff says downtown mobility projects are within budget after low bids; cost-share details to follow

City planning and engineering staff told the Eagle City Council that bids for Phase 2 of downtown mobility improvements, including the Aiken Street Extension, were opened on Nov. 20 and that the lowest responsive bids align with the city’s saved funds.
Planning staff said four bids were received and that Sunny Ridge submitted the low bids for the Aiken Street Extension and the State Street mobility improvements. Staff reported that the city — working with its urban renewal agency — currently has cash available to cover its share and that an updated cost-share agreement will be presented at a subsequent meeting.
Staff cautioned that change orders are common in complex roadway projects and that they will not move funds or finalize the cost-share until staff returns with the updated agreement and the complete plan sets.
Council members asked for the detailed cost-share agreement and for large plan sets to be made available in the city’s document repository; staff said the full plan sets are large and will be printed for council review on request.
Council did not take a final action on the bid awards during the meeting; staff said they will bring an updated cost-share agreement and details to the next council meeting for formal authorization.
