The Lacey Historical Commission said it will present its 2024 accomplishments and the 2025 work plan to the Lacey City Council at a work session scheduled for Jan. 28, with each board allotted roughly 30 minutes. The Commission’s chair said commissioners should attend the council meeting in person because it matters to councilmembers to see board members “sitting here in the room with them.”
Museum staff told commissioners they had submitted the presentation materials to the city manager and that, based on internal notes, the Commission was expected to be first on the council agenda. Staff cautioned that the formal council agenda had not yet been posted and advised members to check the city website for final details.
Commissioners discussed co-presenting the material, refining slides and talking points, and circulating the final PowerPoint to the Commission ahead of Jan. 28 so members could review it before the meeting. The Commission plans to have Commissioner Jim Kio co-present with staff.
Staff also noted the council packet will include the presentation once the agenda posts. The Commission was reminded this is the primary opportunity to brief council on priorities such as museum operations, programming and fundraising progress.
The next procedural step is the Jan. 28 council work session; the Commission encouraged members to attend and participate in person.
