Beachside Redevelopment Board sets renovation, streetscape and parking among top priorities

Ken Thomas, redevelopment director for the City of Daytona Beach, told the Beachside Redevelopment Board on Wednesday that the group’s highest-priority items include renovating the Boardwalk and Breakers Park, improving streetscape and lighting, and addressing parking and property appearance across the CRA.
The board’s top vote, Thomas said, was for a Boardwalk and Breakers Park renovation. Public Works has applied for an ECHO grant that already funded Breakers Park work; the grant requires removal of the existing splash pad, and staff intend to apply for additional funding to install a playground in its place.
