At Monday’s meeting the North Canton City Council approved several ordinances and administrative items by voice vote.
On old business the council passed Ordinance 67-2024 on third reading to amend Chapter 1136 (Main Street District regulations) to allow hotels as a conditional use in Main Street Center Districts. The body also passed Ordinance 68-2024 (third reading), which amends drive-thru and drive-up standards to permit two drive-thru lanes and two menu boards in Main Street districts; council members said the change aligns the code with existing business patterns.
Under new business the council adopted Ordinance 03-2025, which amends a professional auction services contract to add an additional obsolete vehicle to the list for auction; the council suspended the rules to adopt the second reading under the same meeting and the motion carried by voice vote. The council also accepted Ordinance 05-2025 on first reading to accept a 0.13-acre tract of land from the North King City School District for dedication as road right-of-way on Charlotte Street Northwest, a parcel needed for the Charlotte Street widening project.
Votes were announced by voice; the transcript records motions, seconds, and ‘Aye’ responses with no roll-call tallies recorded in the meeting minutes. The council set its next regular meeting for Dec. 16.
