Council renews $25,100 support for local COVID Recovery center

The Soda Springs City Council voted to continue its partnership and funding for the local COVID Recovery center at the $25,100 level provided last year, with an option to allocate an additional $25,100 contingent on completion of an agreed community project.
A representative identified as Melissa requested the same level of funding as the prior year and described how the center uses funds for youth programming (field trips to local sites), women’s support groups and winter assistance including sleeping bags and wood for elderly residents. Councilors asked about participant counts and other funding sources; Melissa said she serves about 22 youth in the program and described county and city support as well as a facility maintenance grant that does not cover programming costs.
A motion to continue funding the recovery center was offered and seconded; council voted in favor. Council members thanked the representative for the center’s community work and encouraged continued communication if logistical needs arise.
