Prairie Village BZA elects officers; staff says design-guidelines review may return in February

At the close of its meeting, the Prairie Village Board of Zoning Appeals held elections for board officers and discussed next steps for design-guideline work.
City staff reported there were no active applications for the BZA or Planning Commission at present and reminded members of an upcoming application deadline. Staff said they had spoken with Jonathan Berkel, who indicated willingness to serve as chair; Lisonbee Brown agreed to serve as vice chair, and the city clerk would serve as secretary.
A motion to elect the three officers was made and seconded; the board voted unanimously to approve the slate. After the elections, a planning commissioner said that if the board receives no applications, it may use the February meeting to take up design-guideline recommendations prepared earlier and incorporate staff and consultant suggestions before forwarding any recommendation to City Council.
No additional applications were presented at the meeting, and staff said they will advise members in the next couple of weeks about the February agenda.
