Board members moved to elect leadership for the Board of Zoning Appeals and approved the slate unanimously. An unidentified board member said that “Mr. Burkel is willing to be chair again” and that Miss Brown agreed to serve as chair (vice chair as noted in the meeting); the city clerk will serve as secretary by default. The motion to elect those three positions was moved and seconded and the chair announced the vote was unanimous.
Separately, board members and staff discussed the short calendar and the design guidelines project the board previously reviewed. An unidentified planning commissioner reminded the board that city council expressed interest in continuing the exercise. The commissioner said, “If we don't get any applications, then we may take the opportunity in February, to revisit that,” indicating staff may prepare a presentation and next steps at the February meeting.
No votes on substantive policy changes were taken during the design‑guidelines discussion; the board simply discussed scheduling and next steps. The meeting adjourned after these items.
