Commission allows temporary parklet hospitality area and exempts KSA 41-719(d) for Arcolala alcohol sales

Second, the commission approved an ordinance to exempt the application of KSA 41-719(d) to allow sale and consumption of alcoholic liquor in a designated area of City Park during Arcolala, Oct. 23–26, 2024. Staff said the exemption is event-specific and limited to this year. Staff also noted the vendor, transcribed as "Suzy Bovco," is a duly licensed state caterer and will be licensed to the city; one owner was present for the discussion.
The commission discussed liability and operational controls such as wristbands and approved cup types (clear plastic and specified red silicone cups).
