Council reviewed updated inspection information for 205 Calhoun. City staff reported that exterior work required by the condemnation order had been completed, but the inspector had been unable to access the interior of the structure and had not received return calls from the property representative.
Council agreed to allow the building inspector until Dec. 4 to obtain access and complete an interior inspection so staff could include the inspector’s findings in the packet. Counsel indicated that, depending on the inspector’s report and access status, the city might need to file a continuance for the scheduled hearing; council directed staff to proceed with available options, including moving forward with condemnation if standards were not met.
A motion to extend the inspection timeline to allow completion and reporting by Dec. 4 was moved, seconded and approved. Council also asked that the inspector, if he observes additional work completed after the inspection, provide immediate updates by phone.
