Wayne Cruze presented the Convention & Tourism request for Marysville’s seasonal programming, outlining new and returning activities aimed at boosting downtown visitation. Cruze described a new Chester Park activation (an igloo built from donated milk jugs), costume contests for council members, a petting‑zoo and a live reindeer appearance tied to a 'Mrs. Claus Reindeer Games' event on Dec. 22.
Council members asked about logistics, including petting‑zoo cleanup and park impacts; organizers confirmed external vendors will handle cleanup and that staff had checked park turf conditions. After questions about the timeline and staffing, a motion to approve the event request was moved and approved by voice vote.
Cruze thanked volunteer organizers and named several local volunteers and coordinators involved in the effort. The council welcomed the programming and encouraged outreach to draw families downtown during the holiday season.
Organizers and staff will coordinate details with Parks and Public Works to finalize staging locations, vendor responsibilities and safety plans.
