Commission approves AV displays, janitorial equipment, street acceptances and appointments

During routine business on Dec. 17 the Kentwood City Commission approved several procurement items, adopted resolutions and confirmed appointments.

Procurements: Commissioners authorized a noncompetitive purchase from Vice Communications for commercial TV displays not to exceed $17,087 for the community center project and roughly $26,331 for the public works renovation project (both figures include a 10% contingency); staff said the procurement was justified by promotional pricing and the vendor’s long-standing relationship with the city. The commission also approved a $20,150 purchase from Imperial Dade (formerly Nichols) for janitorial equipment and supplies to support the Justice Center cleaning transition to city staff.

Resolutions and governance: The commission adopted a resolution accepting newly constructed 2024 streets as public city streets (roll call vote recorded in the minutes), and approved a resolution setting 2025 meeting dates for board review. Commissioners also reviewed applicants for boards/commissions, corrected a nominee’s name spelling (Doug Vandermeer) and confirmed a slate of appointments.

All routine items were approved by voice vote or roll call where noted; no contested or controversial approvals were recorded on these items.
