Planning staff reminded the commission that the July approval left two outstanding conditions: relocating a fire lane closer to the west side of the building (condition 6) and moving the loading area further north to reduce impacts on nearby residents (condition 8). The applicant’s representative said operational constraints and the building’s production-line configuration made moving the loading area impractical. The applicant offered additional landscaping and screening; the fire department issued a waiver addressing the fire-lane concern.
With the public hearing concluded and no speakers requesting additional public comment, the commission moved to approve the specified changes to conditions 6 and 8 so the project may proceed to final site-plan review by the planning commission. The planning commission had already approved the final site plan but required city commission action on the preliminary conditions before the project could move forward.
The approval was procedural and did not itself grant final construction permits; staff said the applicant is awaiting additional funding confirmation and MEDC processes before final steps.
