Dickinson commission designates single polling place for March 11 recall election

The Dickinson City Commission voted unanimously Dec. 17 to designate the Beiju Activity Center as the single polling location for a recall election set for March 11, 2025, with voting hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mountain Time.

City staff member Mister Dossinger told commissioners the city is using a single location because the recall is not a primary or general election and will have only one item on the ballot, voting lines should move quickly, and the city will operate a manual polling book rather than an electronic poll book. "The recall election is scheduled to take place on March 11th of 2025 at the Beiju Activity Center from 7 AM to 7 PM mountain time," Dossinger said during the presentation.

Dossinger also said staffing and residency rules factored in: city-run elections require workers who are Dickinson City residents, which limits the pool of available election officials compared with a county-run election. Commissioners asked about absentee-ballot provisions; Dossinger confirmed absentee ballots will be available, advertised and collected at City Hall by a designated absentee worker.

Commissioner Baer moved to approve Resolution 51-2024; Commissioner Oderman seconded. The roll call recorded unanimous approval from Commissioners Baer, Riddle, Frederick, Oderman and Mayor Decker.

The resolution sets the polling place and time; the commission did not change procedures for absentee ballots at the meeting. City staff said they will publicize absentee-ballot instructions and the polling location on the city website and in the usual election notices.
