Councilmember Radke, who pulled the item from consent, said recent park expansion plans for Rotary Park would benefit from pedestrian access over the bridge; he urged staff to ask the county whether the resurfacing project could accommodate a pedestrian connection or an interim crossing solution. City Manager Mark Vanderpool cautioned that current plans are a maintenance/resurfacing project and that structural changes (such as cantilevering a sidewalk) could be costly and may require a full structural replacement estimated much higher, but said staff will consult the county and report back.
Council discussed floodplain constraints and right‑of‑way considerations and agreed to postpone the motion to the Jan. 7, 2025 meeting to allow intergovernmental coordination and engineering review.
