AGS Automotive commits $30,000 to Sterling Heights ‘Inspiring Green’ roadway planting

Marissa Russo, marketing and communications coordinator, described the "Inspiring Green" initiative, an expansion of the city’s Adopt‑a‑Road model with three sponsorship tiers ($5,000, $10,000 and $30,000) supporting trees, native plantings, signage and recognition. AGS Automotive Systems (doing business as AG Simpson USA / AGS) committed at the highest Inspire level ($30,000) to sponsor the half‑roadway between Mount Road and Van Dyke and to install plantings in the median.
Joe Loparco (AGS) praised the city’s business‑friendly permitting and noted the company’s recent facility expansion along 18½ Mile; he said AGS looks forward to coordinating with city planners and engineers on final plant selections and designs. The city said the donation will fund about 75–80 trees and additional landscaping; the council voted to accept the donation by motion and voice vote.
Staff will arrange a photo opportunity with company representatives and proceed with design collaboration; the city will provide recognition and signage as part of the program’s sponsorship benefits.
