Walworth County CDEB adopts three ordinances: lunch-fee increase, orientation pay premiums and weather-absence flexibility

At its June 19 meeting the Walworth County Children with Disabilities Education Board adopted three ordinances affecting Lakeland School operations and CDEV employees.
1) Lunch fees (County Code sec. 30-286): Staff said the Department of Public Instruction notified the district that lunch fees needed to increase; the board approved an ordinance amendment to set lunch fees at the calculated minimum. The motion carried by voice vote.
2) Special pay premiums for on-site orientation (County Code sec. 15-359): The board approved language clarifying which CDAB positions qualify for special-pay premiums during new-employee on-site orientation, spelling out therapist positions and adding the recently created school-counselor position.
3) Absence due to severe weather or emergency (County Code sec. 15-707): The board amended county code language so certain hourly non-clerical Children's with Disabilities Education Board employees (for example, special education aides, interpreters, nutrition site workers and the nutrition services lead) would have the option to use paid leave (ST or PTO) rather than be required to take an unpaid day when school is canceled. The board said the change reduces an inequity created by previous language that mandated unpaid days in those circumstances.
