Board signs off to develop Lakeland School logo and athletic identity

Matt presented a logo (packet page 17) using the school’s colors—maroon, purple and gray—and said staff had produced a style guide. The board voted to proceed with development but did not vote to trademark the logo.
Matt said the school is also exploring an athletic logo and mascot. He reported students selected the name 'Storm' (proposed as 'Lakeland Storm') and a mascot called 'Stormy the lion.' Staff said $ has been allocated in the 2025 budget to begin that process, and that creating separate athletic and mascot logos would require additional design work.
Members offered small layout suggestions during discussion; staff noted that changes to the logo would require drafting a new style guide. The board approved proceeding with the designs by voice vote. Staff will return with additional materials and any cost estimates if trademarking is pursued later.
