The Walworth County Children with Disabilities Education Board on Oct. 16 approved a resolution accepting a $110,000 donation from the CARE Foundation to purchase a high‑top passenger van for Lakeland School. Matt, the CDEV director, told members the foundation will transfer $55,000 before Dec. 31 and the remaining $55,000 after Jan. 1 to align with the county budget cycle.
The donation was introduced as an agenda item (pages 4–6 of the meeting packet). Board members discussed sending formal thanks; the CDEV director confirmed that recognition from the county board or similar acknowledgment could be arranged. On a voice vote the board approved the resolution.
The van is intended to improve transportation options for Lakeland School students. The CDEV director said the gift was anticipated in the 2025 budget and that accepting it now ensures the county can finalize arrangements once the budget is passed. No conditions or restrictions on the use of the funds were specified in the discussion.
The board did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes beyond the affirmative voice vote. The board will proceed with procurement steps once the donation is received and the budget process is complete.
