The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 10 took a series of largely routine votes: it approved several small-lot rezonings, ratified plats for November 2024 and granted a request to abandon a portion of Rock Springs Road right of way so Roxbury United Methodist Church can establish clear cemetery boundaries.
Rock Springs Road abandonment Acting director Ron Adderley told the board that Roxbury United Methodist Church asked the county to abandon a segment of right-of-way to define the cemetery boundary and facilitate maintenance; he said no deeds or recorded documents clearly establish the boundary. Beverly Path, president of the cemetery association and a local historical-society volunteer, described long-standing stewardship of the cemetery and said the deed will be transferred to the association for maintenance. The board approved the abandonment (agenda item 2024-1066).
Small rezonings and plats The board approved REZ20241185 (3240 Indian Shoals Road) and related small rezonings that convert RA200 parcels to R100 for one- or two-lot single-family subdivisions after applicants accepted planning department and planning commission conditions. The board also ratified plats approved by staff for November 2024 (12 plats authorizing 462 lots).
Procedural notes Several unconditional or lightly contested rezoning items were read into the record, presented by staff and applicant representatives, and approved unanimously. The board closed the public hearing, invited comments from the audience (none were offered), and adjourned for the holidays; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 7.
