Mike Tilton said Kissimmee operates 19 cameras at 10 intersections and that between July 1 and June 30 the program generated 28,688 notices of violation, of which 17,917 were paid and a small number were contested or dismissed.
Tilton outlined enforcement procedures: notices of violation are civil and carry no moving points; unpaid notices after 60 days are converted to uniform traffic citations. He reported 7,508 uniform traffic citations issued related to the notices and noted cash receipts associated with notices and citations. Tilton provided a financial breakdown of program revenue and expenses and said the program yields net proceeds earmarked for street safety and repaving projects in the general fund.
Commissioners asked staff to explore adding cameras at school zones; staff agreed to discuss options. The presentation was informational and no immediate policy change was made.
