Cabell County board approves consent agenda, personnel actions and nine expulsions

At its Jan. 14 meeting the Cabell County Board of Education approved its consent agenda, moved through personnel items, and voted on student-discipline matters.
A motion to approve the consent agenda passed by voice vote after a motion and a second. The consent agenda included routine contracts and the contracted review with Education System Solutions for special-education practices and costs.
The board discussed personnel items and moved into executive session to address two administrative-leave items. After returning to open session, the board approved professional personnel item 7.01 and service personnel item 7.02. The superintendent’s recommendation to ratify administrative leave with pay for BJ Roberts (7.03) and for Kemba Hissom (7.04) carried on voice votes. Board members noted one item (7.05) was removed from the agenda as no longer necessary.
The board then conducted an executive-session review of nine student-expulsion cases and voted to approve all expulsions in a single motion (agenda item 8.10). The meeting adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
