Kettering honors hundreds of Neighborhood Pride Award nominees and winners

Kettering City Council used part of its Sept. 24 regular meeting to present the city’s annual Neighborhood Pride Awards, a long‑running program that recognizes property owners and businesses for landscaping and property‑improvement efforts.
City staff said more than 250 nominations were received this year and volunteers visited every nominated property. Assistant volunteer administrator Lindsay Curry introduced the awards, thanked volunteer reviewers and called winners forward by month and district to receive certificates and photos with the mayor. Winners included district recipients (examples cited at the meeting) and the Sustainable Landscaping Award went to Christ United Methodist Church.
Staff invited winners to a reception following the meeting and said the awards video would be available on the city’s website. Several councilmembers and attendees offered brief congratulatory comments about neighborhood improvements and community partnerships.
The meeting then resumed regular business, including a later roll call to confirm an appointment to the Board of Community Relations.
