Key approvals included a resolution to purchase approximately 5,500 tons of road salt for the 2024-25 winter season at an estimated cost of $350,130 (the city budgeted $180,000 for salt this year). Public Service staff told council that bid prices for the upcoming season were about 30% lower than last year, a change staff said will reduce purchase costs if the city chooses to buy now. "The bid prices for this go round for the upcoming season were about 30% lower than last year's pricing," a staff member said.
