Council selects AECOM for Amtrak feasibility study and plans stakeholder trip to Columbus

Councilmember Ryan announced Oct. 9 that Hamilton has selected AECOM to perform a passenger‑rail feasibility study and that city stakeholders will travel to Columbus on Nov. 20 to meet state legislators about bringing Amtrak service to Hamilton.
Ryan described the feasibility study’s scope — station location, cost assessment, ridership estimates and community impact — and said it will be completed in February 2025. "The feasibility study is going to include an update on passenger rail information, station location and assessment plus cost," Ryan said. "AECOM has been chosen."
He also said the city and the chamber of commerce organized a delegation to meet state representatives and senators to advocate for the project and thanked state legislators who have supported the effort to date. "This is going to be a very important day," Ryan said of the Nov. 20 trip to the statehouse.
What happens next: AECOM will begin the study and report estimates and options to council; councilmembers and stakeholders will press state legislators during the scheduled November meetings.
