Commissioners voted to reauthorize earmarked capital funds for improvements at the Landers Soccer Complex, including two new scoreboards and a sound system. Brenda, the county’s tourism director, said the scoreboard order is placed and that the club and city partners are coordinating installation and sponsorship options.
Nate Rock of the Western Nebraska Football Club described the project as a multi‑phase plan (lighting, bathrooms, seating and scoreboards) and said the club is prioritizing elements based on need. He told commissioners the installation plan preserves an older scoreboard by re‑locating it to serve another field and that a new structure is required to handle the upgraded scoreboard and sound system.
The motion to reapprove the earmark passed unanimously. County staff said the earmarked funds remain in the capital-improvement budget and invoices will be processed against that allocation when received.
