Mayor thanks commissioners and says council will consider dissolving Board of Adjustments

Mayor Dirk Burton addressed the commission Dec. 17, thanking members for their service, reviewing recent street and infrastructure projects and noting the city’s growth.
During his remarks the mayor said the City Council would hear a proposal the following day to dissolve the Board of Adjustments and use an administrative law judge (ALJ) for the functions formerly handled by that board. "By the what I've heard from the council, I anticipate that's going to go through," the mayor said, describing it as a change the city was making for next year.
The mayor also referenced preparations for a planned temple, saying zoning was in place to ease future review, and closed his remarks with holiday wishes. Later in the meeting the chair announced this would be their last meeting due to a term expiration and offered thanks to colleagues and the mayor for the opportunity to serve. A motion to adjourn followed and the meeting ended.
The council's anticipated action to dissolve the Board of Adjustments will be considered at an upcoming council meeting; the mayor indicated the council agenda includes that item.
