Grants manager Suzanne Bensley said the JAG award is smaller this year because total federal allocations to the program were reduced and the county—s violent‑crime weighting fell; she proposed the distribution: $4,684 to the City of Keene, $4,684 to the sheriff—s office, and $937 to cover indirect administrative expenses.
Commissioners moved and approved the MOU, and Bensley said the funds have long been used to offset cellular connectivity and mobile data‑terminal costs in cruisers and other modest equipment needs.
The award will be executed via a memorandum of understanding with the city and used for incidental public‑safety technology costs, Bensley said.
