Commission approves partial fee waiver for Miss Wilderness Circuit pageant

Tammy Berry, Miss Wilderness Circuit Rodeo Queen Director, asked the commission Sept. 4 to waive part of the rental fees for the county fairgrounds, saying the group could pay $400 but needed the county to waive the remainder to cover rising expenses.
“We are prepared to pay $400 for the facility, but that is all that we have in our budget to pay,” Berry said, and she noted the organization would provide required insurance and expects about 110 attendees for the event.
Berry described the pageant as a multi-day event that requires the home arts building, the museum building and the large indoor arena. The county asked for proof of insurance; Berry said she had already forwarded insurance documents to county staff and that the requirements were met.
Commissioner (Unidentified Speaker 7) moved to grant the requested partial waiver of the large exhibit building and a fee waiver for the museum building. The motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
The commission did not specify a monetary reimbursement program or future fee structure change; staff recorded that the waiver amounted to roughly $800 in waived fees while the group will pay $400. The presenters thanked the commission, and the county closed the agenda item.
The commission’s action applies only to the current request; any future changes to the county’s fee or insurance policy would require additional review or formal amendment.
