Planning Board approves AT&T equipment upgrade at 60 Prospect Avenue

The Middletown Planning Board voted unanimously Dec. 4 to approve New Singular Wireless, doing business as AT&T, to upgrade antennas and ancillary equipment at 60 Prospect Avenue.
Marty McGee, representing Arrowsmith Development and speaking for New Singular Wireless, said the filing was being processed as an "eligible facilities request under section 6409" and described the work as an equipment upgrade that will swap several antennas for newer models while reducing some of the remote radio head units. "There's no difference in the size or shape of the antenna, so it's just a newer a newer model," McGee said.
Board members asked operational questions. Miss Witt asked about timing; McGee replied that, assuming permits are approved, the physical upgrade would take a couple of days and would likely occur shortly after the New Year. A member of the public and board members raised concerns about noise and radio-frequency emissions; McGee said antennas and cabinets are not noisy and that an RF compliance report had been submitted, adding that at the installation height proposed the emissions were well within applicable thresholds.
Chair (unnamed) opened and closed the public hearing after receiving no in-person objections, and the board approved the resolution by roll-call vote with all recorded members voting yes.
The board record indicates the work will not increase cabinet count or height and will not involve excavation. The applicant was advised to secure the required building permits and to coordinate with the building department before construction begins.
