During the water-meter discussion, staff notified the council of a suspicious package in the meeting room. The chair announced a temporary adjournment and asked attendees to calmly vacate the chambers. Officials said they believed the item to be non-threatening but would investigate; for viewers at home the meeting video was stopped and, if the council reconvenes later, the additional session will be labeled "Part 2."
