Gwinnett board approves consent items, HR and financial reports and affirms executive-session discipline decisions

After adopting the agenda as amended, the board approved selected consent-agenda action items (5.03–5.07, 5.09, 5.13 and 5.15) following the superintendent’s removal of items 5.08 (Harbins Elementary School addition) and 5.14 (Central Baptist Church property purchase) from tonight’s consent list. The motion to accept the listed consent items passed on a unanimous voice vote.
Superintendent Dr. Watts presented the monthly human-resources report and recommended Gregory Jackson as principal at Coleman Bridal School effective Jan. 21, 2025; the board approved the human-resources report by unanimous voice vote. The board also approved the Oct. 31, 2024 monthly financial report — which includes central-office records and SPLOST 6 sales-tax receipts — following a motion and unanimous voice vote.
By statutory requirement, the board affirmed actions taken in executive session related to the monthly tribunal summary, a student-discipline appeal and an expulsion. Each affirmation was moved, seconded and approved unanimously in open session.
The board also approved the 2025 school-board meeting calendar after a brief clarification about soliciting input from incoming members. Several trustees used the governance remarks segment to praise recent school achievements and to remind the community that the system is preparing for the SPLOST 7 vote in 2025 to fund new facilities.
