The Fairfield County Council nominated and voted to select two candidates to serve on the Accommodation and Hospitality Tax Committee during its Jan. 13 meeting. The names announced during the meeting were Mister Dominic Napa and Pauline Moore, and the council approved the selections by voice vote.
Council members noted that state law prescribes the committee’s makeup in part according to where hospitality tax revenues are generated. One councilmember asked whether staff had a district-by-revenue breakdown; staff said they have a preliminary 50/50 breakdown and are still cleaning up records and would provide the revenue-generation details to council members.
Staff also said they were prepared to convene the committee and start the application process for committee membership once the council’s appointments were finalized. The council approved the appointments and moved on to other business.
