The Fairfield County Council used part of its Jan. 13 meeting to issue two public proclamations honoring local residents.
Dr. Roberts read a proclamation recognizing W. Carnell Robinson, who began working with Fairfield County Public Works in October 2005, rose from limb climber operator to solid waste director in 2019, and retired on Dec. 31, 2024. The proclamation thanked Robinson for his years of service and wished him well in retirement.
The council also read a proclamation celebrating Donald Prelo Sr. for decades of community service, including roles in local civic organizations and as a past mayor and council member in Ridgeway. The proclamation noted that a state road had been named in his honor and listed a series of civic affiliations and awards.
Chair and council members offered brief remarks of thanks and congratulations to both honorees. Family members of the honorees were invited forward for the recognition.
