Rosenkrantz said the levy is a replacement at the same rate currently assessed (he cited a rate of $1.31 in his presentation) and emphasized that state funding does not fully cover local education costs. He described several district priorities that the levy is intended to support, including continued focus on reading, math and science; expansion of career-and-technical education (CTE) with a small shop project now in the permit stage; and partnerships with the La Center Arts Council and local businesses (Quail Homes donated materials for a student toolbox project).
Rosenkrantz highlighted student successes in athletics and STEM, ongoing efforts to offer more after-school and summer programming, and a recent SkillsUSA expansion that will let more students participate in skilled-trades competitions. He urged community members to consider the levy request and cited community fundraising and donations that reduce district costs.
The superintendent’s presentation did not request formal council action; it served as an informational update ahead of the district’s levy campaign.
