The Assembly Housing and Homeless Committee heard Dec. 18 that the municipality has 532 shelter beds available and has issued an intent to award warming-operations contracts to two bidders, an administration official said.
"We have 532 beds of shelter operational," Farina Brown, special assistant for homelessness and health, told the committee. She listed roughly 200 beds at the congregate shelter on 56th Avenue, about 200 operated through Henning, and 132 beds that came online Nov. 30 through partners identified in the report.
