Goldendale council adopts 2025 budget unanimously (Ordinance 1542)

The Goldendale City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance 1542 on Dec. 2, establishing the city’s fiscal year 2025 budget after a second-reading presentation by finance staff.
Jen Forsberg, presenting the second reading, said there were no changes from the prior packet and that the property-tax resolution had been approved at the previous meeting. Council members asked clarification questions about a $114,000 airport fuel-system line item tracked in the general fund; Forsberg said the line is being managed through the general fund for tracking purposes but that grant funds remain available to support the work and that a few final contractor invoices remain outstanding.
A council member raised the possibility that the Association of Washington Cities and the state legislature could pursue increasing the property-tax cap above the current 1 percent limit, which participants said would affect local revenue options; Forsberg said she had not heard such a legislative change officially but that the restriction is a statewide challenge for local governments.
Council moved, seconded and voted to adopt Ordinance 1542; the motion passed unanimously.
