Council adopts update to Goldendale flood damage prevention code (GMC 15.48)

The Goldendale City Council on November 18 adopted Ordinance 1543 to update chapter 15.48 of the Goldendale Municipal Code, the city’s flood damage prevention code.
Dustin Conroy described the basis for the update, saying, "in August of this year, Pima sent out a letter of adoption adopting the new floodplain, study and maps, and those will go into effect in February." Conroy said the Department of Ecology reviewed the city ordinance for consistency with the updated maps and recommended changes; he added that he updated the ordinance language to reflect the study’s updated effective date.
The council opened the public hearing on the proposed changes and invited public input; no members of the public testified. After closing the public hearing, the council moved and seconded acceptance of Ordinance 1543 to repeal and replace GMC 15.48 and voted to pass the motion.
The ordinance is intended to align the city’s code with the newly adopted floodplain study and maps and to incorporate Department of Ecology recommendations. The council record for the meeting does not include a detailed roll-call tally for the ordinance vote; the mayor declared the motion passed.
