Hamilton County approves highway design supplement, small repair contract and equipment procurement

Hamilton County commissioners approved several highway-related procurements and contract adjustments during the Jan. 13 meeting, including additional design work for an MPO-funded project and small public works awards.
Highway staff recommended Supplemental Agreement No. 2 with American StructurePoint for additional design work to address ADA corrections on the 146th Street project (Hazeldale Road to White River). The board approved increasing the contract to not to exceed $231,826.
The board also considered three vendor quotes for culvert repair work and awarded the lowest responsive bid to Eagle Ford Construction for $3,900. Commissioners voted to concur with the award and proceed.
Separately, highway officials recommended procuring a smaller mini-excavator in place of a 2014 JCB backhoe, noting the replacement was budgeted in the 2025 budget and would be more flexible for current work needs; the board authorized staff to proceed with procurement and explore trade-in or auction options for the existing machine.
Board members discussed contract details for bridge inspection work under an LPA consultant agreement and confirmed NDOT requested removal of two pedestrian bridge inspections from the federal participation list; staff said those inspections will be handled under a separate, small agreement.
All actions on these items were taken by motion and voice vote during the highway business portion of the meeting.
