Hamilton County commissioners elect leadership, approve dozens of board appointments

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners reorganized its leadership and completed a broad set of committee and board appointments at its Jan. 13 meeting. Commissioners elected Commissioner Billinger as president and approved Christine Holden as vice president; those motions carried by voice vote.

Among the actions: Steve Dellinger was appointed to several posts including Board of Finance and the Redevelopment Commission; Aaron Batt was named to the Alcoholic Beverage Board; Jim Galloway and Michael Puggle were approved to the Board of Zoning Appeals; and Lee Buckingham was appointed as the county’s cable complaints representative and later named director of administration.
Commissioners also approved Community Corrections Advisory Board assignments, designating Brandy Pass to replace Gail Bardock and naming Trampus Whalen to the defense-attorney seat. Christine Altman was confirmed as the commissioners’ representative to the Local Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council, with court administration to assume leadership of that council.
Most routine nominations and reappointments were adopted by voice vote with no roll-call tallies recorded in the meeting transcript. The board completed appointments to additional panels — including the Community Mental Health Board, airport authorities, and workforce and technical committees — before moving on to departmental business.
The reorganizational votes drew limited debate and were conducted early in the meeting; commissioners repeatedly used voice votes during the appointment round with multiple “Aye” responses recorded.
