Iowa City — A representative of the University of Iowa Student Government updated the council Dec. 10 on a recent parking-voucher pilot and upcoming student engagement plans.
"Our much hyped parking voucher initiative went off really, really well," the USG representative (Speaker 6) said, reporting that "all 750 vouchers [were] claimed with 282 of those claimed in just the first 9 minutes of the program" and that all vouchers were gone within 24 hours. The representative thanked city staff and the city manager's office for help administering the pilot.
USG also announced an annual student town hall scheduled for Feb. 11, with plans to hold an open access session during a senate meeting beforehand to prepare student leaders and encourage public input on topics students want discussed.
The council thanked the student representatives and wished them well during exams; no council action was required.
