Commission completes routine business, tables officer election and notes staff updates

The Waterloo Planning, Programming and Zoning Commission handled routine business at its Dec. 10 meeting, approving the agenda and November minutes, receiving a budget update and tabling officer elections.
John (staff) gave the financial report and summarized the year‑to‑date figures: "Looks like we're currently at 33% of the year, and expenses are slightly below that at 32%, and revenue is 25%. So we're doing okay so far." The commission moved to approve the budget report by voice vote.
Members agreed to postpone nomination and election of the chair and vice chair for the term ending Dec. 31, 2025 until the Jan. 14 meeting so potential nominees' availability could be confirmed. Staff introduced two new planners: Joseph Guilman (new planner I, University of Utah) and another new planner (from Michigan, UC Irvine graduate). Staff also reported that City Council approved a six‑month moratorium on new hobby farms while an ordinance update committee reviews the rules.
The commission adjourned following a motion and voice vote.
